Welcome to the wanted pages for South West Ferret Rescue.

Frankie has come all the way from Plymouth, where she was found injured and being mobbed by Magpies. She is about 9 months old, is a bit of a biter but we are getting on top of that. Frankie has splenomegaly and this may be causing the bite reaction. She is going for her spay operation in early May so we will get a better look at the problems with her insides. Otherwise she is a real super ferret.

Gi Gi, or Glamorous Glynis, has been with us for 2 years. We have no idea of her age but probably around 5 years. She was found abandoned in a rubbish sack and may well have been bred too often as she seems to have far too much skin, enough for two probably. We give her a bath in Malosab shampoo to keep her skin sores at bay, works very well. Gi Gi also has a spinal nerve problem, cause unknown, but every so often her back legs stop working for several seconds. She loves to play and never lets the leg problem stop her, just carries on until they start to work again. Everyone falls in love with her but she really does need a special caring home.

Caper is another long term resident, came to us in January 2005 believed to be 9 months at that time. He was re-homed once but did not get on with the resident ferret so came back to us. Has an ear problem but we are not sure how severe, his back legs became very weak then he had blood comming from his right ear. The vet checked and found the eardrum intact but though he is very active again he does hold his head on one side. No bacteria, mites or obvious reasons for this so at present he gets twice daily ear cleaning (guess how much he likes that) and we wait for further information. Now 3 years old.
